The Certina DS-1 day date 40mm is a stunning watch to look at, the polished indexes really pop when they catch the light, beautiful dial too. Certina definitely punch above there weight in the quality stakes at the price point. I did have reservations as to the watch looking too big on my slim wrist (6") especially a white dial with no bezel, but it feels and fits nicely. No overly keen on the strap, but this is purely my own taste. The strap is good quality, with an excellent clasp, just not for me. My only niggle with the watch is the crown on mine is quite stiff, hopefully it will loosen up with a few winds though. All in all very happy with the DS-1, feels and looks very good quality.

I have had difficulty locating a Mondaine watch strap but thankfully I managed to get one from First Class Watches. It had to be ordered but once it arrived I could see I had made a lovely choice.

First Hamilton watch to add to my collection. Only been a few days now but so far very Impressed. Seems to be keeping really good time and automatic movement appears to hold power reserve very well. I chose the green watch face and this is outstanding. A very bright iridescent green in strong light and softer grey green tones when light is less bright. Stainless steel case is a really good quality and complements the dial. No PVD finish here. Markings on bezels very clear and easy to read. The cross wind calculations are really present as a novelty but add strong character to this watch which is further enhanced by the high quality tan leather strap. The 2 rivets at both lug ends of the strap just add that finishing touch. Lume is present on both hands and on all the watch face numerals. This is acceptable and makes it pleasant to view when dark. Constructive criticism is this would be superb if a stronger grade of lume had been used, such as that by OMEGA or even Seiko. In summary, nothing disappoints and this has immediately become one of my favourites in my collection
